Important Dates for Fall/Winter 2017-2018 full-year and Winter 2018 term courses

On Friday, June 15, CUPE 3903 Unit 2 – Contract Faculty – accepted an offer of settlement from York University. Contract Faculty returned to work effective Monday, June 18. The official remediation period for completing resumed classes is July 23 to August 20, followed by an examination period. For courses that will resume in-class meetings, the meeting schedule will be confirmed by the middle of July.

Please note that teaching assistants (TAs), represented by CUPE 3903 Unit 1 and graduate assistants (GAs), represented by CUPE 3903 Unit 3, remain on strike. Some courses that require TAs and GAs may not be able to resume.

Plans for how students will be able to complete their resumed Fall/Winter 2017-2018 full year courses and Winter 2018 term courses and receive final grades are being communicated to students by their course instructors. Remediation options will be varied and will include options for students unable or unwilling to return to campus for in-class meets. The important dates for course completion/remediation of Fall/Winter 2017-2018 and Winter 2018 courses are indicated below:

Notes:
  1. Course directors will determine the number of in-person classes they will schedule during this time frame. Students are not required to attend classes in person. If you are unable or unwilling to return to campus for in-class meets, please contact your course instructor about alternate arrangements for completing the course work.
  2. If, after speaking with your course instructor, it is apparent that you cannot complete your work before August 31, 2018, you may apply for Deferred Standing and complete your work during the Fall 2018 term. A form to request Deferred Standing for remediated courses will be available at the end of June 2018.
